{Worth the Drive} Cagle’s Family Farm

Cagle Family Farm WM

Fall is here and I am so excited! A few weeks ago I wandered into a Hallmark store with my three-year-old daughter and was giddy to see all the fall decorations. I took a big sniff of a pumpkin candle and was immediately ready for changing colors, pumpkins on my front step, and big sweaters. The time is here to enjoy the changing season!

One of the great things about living in a metropolitan community is all the activity that comes with each season. Everyone is talking about apple picking and hay rides, so it is time to determine when and where that will occur over the next month or so. One of our favorite fall activities last year was our trip to Cagle’s Family Farm in Canton. We went with a big group of our friends and their children at the end of September and made a day of it. My dad joined us too, which was so much fun. It only took us about 45 minutes to get there from the Smyrna area and so worth the drive.

Although our little one was not interested in the big jumpee pillows, the rest of the kids had a blast. There were sand boxes full of corn kernels and animals to see and pet. We went together on the hayride and had a lot of fun. The kids had the chance to see all the animals on the farm and the driver even stopped and let the kids get a good look before they moved the tractor along.

After the hayride, we were given a tour of the farm. The tour guides took us all to see how you milk a cow and the kids were all able to get up close if they wanted to see. I think our daughter’s favorite part were the pig races. They had five young pigs that ran around in circles and she thought it was so funny. We then headed to the petting barn where you could pet and feed many of the farm animals. The facilities were relativity clean, or as much as they would be on a farm.

Once the tour is over, you can head back over to the jumpee pillows, go through a corn maze, or have lunch in their covered picnic areas. We all enjoyed some fresh lemonade from the concession stand. Afterwards, we took our daughter through what we thought was the “short” corn maze. I will have to say that I was glad that there was a staff person following us because we would have gotten lost for sure. It was a lot of fun, but it does take some time.

The farm also has a fun pumpkin patch near the entrance that the kids enjoyed running around and posing for pictures. We would highly recommend Cagle’s Family Farm as a destination for your fall fun, and heading there with a group is even better!

Check out your local Val-pak and coupons in the mail because I have already received a coupon for admission. Check our their website for all the information and packages you can do as there is something for all ages. They are only open on FridaySaturday, and Sunday, with a bunch of other activities for after the sun goes down.

Happy Fall everyone!
