Yaarab Shrine Circus. Jim Miller Park, 2245 Callaway Road, S.W., Marietta. Midway opens at 5, circus parade at 6pm, circus shows at 11am and 7pm. The world’s largest Shrine Circus lasts for 10 days and feature top circus acts from around the world with daredevil acrobats and entertaining acts. Plus enjoy a carnival midway with over 40 rides and carnival food! Tickets are $7 at the gate, children 10 and under are free.
Saturday

Kids to Parks Events. While these parks are outside of the area that I usually feature, I think this is worth a mention! Bring your children to one of our Georgia State Parks this Memorial Day weekend for a great time in nature and fun activities. Many local parks will have special events for the kids.
Twelve Dancing Princesses. 3pm & 7pm, Young Actors Playhouse, Marietta. The King has twelve beautiful daughters. When he learns their safety is in jeopardy, he locks them away in their bedroom until the danger passes. The Princesses discover a secret way out of the room where they dance the night away, and learn that the things we think are dangerous, really aren’t at all. Tickets $9 for adults, $7 for 12 and under.

Smyrna Fresh Produce Market. 8am – 12pm. Smyrna First Baptist Parking Lot.
Marietta Square Farmers Market. 10am – 1pm, year round. Marietta Square.
Michaels Kids’ Club. 10am, 10:30, 11, 11:30. All Michaels locations. Drop in and create a craft (themes vary by week). $2 for 30 minutes + supplies. Recommended age: 3+. This week’s theme: DIY Paper Fans.
Jitterbug Performing Arts. In addition to their ongoing classes, Jitterbug offers several drop in classes per week. This Saturday’s schedule is:
10am – Storytime (Interactive storytelling for ages 18 months+) $5
11am – Princess Training (Flux classes are for those potty trained – 8 years old) $15
Drop-In Art Classes at Vinings School of Art. Time varies, see below. $15/hour, all supplies included.
Toddler/Pre-K: 10am – 11am
Younger Child (5-7): 11am – noon
Older Child (6 – 10): 10am – 11am
Older Child (7 – 12): 11am – noon

Monday – Memorial Day
City of Smyrna Memorial Day Ceremony. 9:30am, Smyrna Veterans Memorial, 2800 King Street, Smyrna. The Smyrna ceremony is organized and officiated by the Smyrna Veterans Committee. Join us on this day to honor and appreciate our commitment to peace through strength and sacrifice. Seating will start at 8:30 a.m. and pre-ceremony/ceremony activities will begin promptly at 9:00 a.m. In the event of inclement weather, the ceremony will be held in the Smyrna Community Center (200 Village Green Circle, Smyrna, 30080).
Marietta Memorial Day Ceremony. Noon. Marietta National Cemetery, 500 Washington Avenue Northeast, Marietta. The event honors our Veterans, both past and present, who served as well as those who gave their life for our country’s freedom. The ceremony features patriotic music, posting of the colors, prayers, a gun salute, as well as inspiring speakers. All Veterans as well as the general public are invited to attend.

Memorial Day Remembrance Ceremony. 7:30pm, Kennesaw Cemetery.
