Weekend Events Nov. 15 – 17

The holiday season is swinging into full gear and there are tons of fun, local events happening this weekend. And this is barely skimming the surface! On Monday we’ll post a very comprehensive overview of holiday activities near and far, compiled by our contributor, Jenn.

Friday

Martinis and Music at Marietta Museum of Art (Date Night!). 5:30 – 8:30. Admission $8, members free. Hors d’oeuvres and cash bar.

 Holiday Shopping Extravaganza, presented by Atlanta Pampered Ladies. 6pm. Brawner Hall (Smyrna). Support local vendors and receive spa treatments, a catered meal, dessert, and more while you shop. Pre-purchase your tickets here.

Saturday

Village to Village 11K. Race starts 7am at the Village Green. $45 to register on race day, or just cheer along the runners as they head down Atlanta Road to West Village and back.

Santa Saturday at Town Center Mall. 8:30am. Activities and ornament making craft, then a parade through the mall to Children’s Place where there will be more activities and Santa. Event starts at Center Court at the Santa Set.

Christmas at Bethany Vendor Show. 9am. Bethany United Methodist Church (Hurt Road, Smyrna). Plenty of craft and gift vendors will be on hand to help with your Christmas Shopping.

Marietta Farmers Market. 9am – 12pm

Hands on Christmas. 10am – 2pm. Smyrna First United Methodist Church. Local artisans with unique crafts and gifts. Children will have the opportunity to make their own gifts and crafts as well. Santa will also be available for photos by appointment only.

Michael’s Kid’s Club. 10am, 10:30, 11, 11:30. All Michael’s locations. Kids will be making a Rudy the Reindeer ornament this week. $2 per child.

Taste of South Cobb. 11am – 7pm. Mable House Barnes Amphitheater, Mableton. General Admission is free, food can be purchased with Taste Tickets.

Hansel & Gretel, Young Actors Playhouse in Marietta. 11am & 3pm. Tickets $10 for adults and $7 for children. This musical features a cast of children ages 5 – 13.

Children’s Storytime at Barnes & Noble, Cumberland. 11am

Chinese Festival at Moore’s Chinese Martial Arts. 2pm. Free event with food, arts, crafts, prize raffle, and Martial Arts and Tai Chi demos (starting at 3:30). If you’ve been thinking about enrolling your child in a martial arts program, this is a great chance to see what it’s all about. Located at 1810 Spring Road #4, Smyrna.

The Radio City Christmas Spectacular. Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre through November 23. Times and ticket information here.

Sunday

St. Benedict’s Episcopal Day School Prospective Student Open House. 3:30pm. Families interested in enrolling their child in preschool through 7th grade for the 2014/2015 school year are invited to tour the school and meet the teachers.

Marietta Farmers Market. 12pm – 3pm (last month that the Farmers Market will be open on Sunday until April)
