Weekend Events, August 1 – 3


Friday

Friday Art Walk. 5pm – 9pm. Marietta Square. Art Walk is a free, self-guided tour of the Historic Marietta Square’s eclectic art scene. Admission to The Marietta/Cobb Museum of Art is free during this event.

Get Pop-Cultured. Frozen Friday with Olaf. 7pm. Barnes & Noble, Akers Mill. Bring in the kids for storytime, a sing-along, crafts and activities with everyone’s favorite summer-loving snowman! All kids are invited to join us dressed in their favorite Frozen attire. Crowns and antlers will be provided. Our Frozen Tea Party will include a “Melted Olaf” and Snowflake cookies. Please arrive by 6:45 pm. Our Storytime and activities will begin promptly at 7:00 pm.

 

Saturday

Smyrna Fresh Produce Market. 8am – 12pm. Smyrna First Baptist (Market Village).

Home Depot Kids’ Workshop. 9am – 12pm. Free workshop for children 5 – 12. Drop by any time from 9 – 12. This month’s craft: Build a mini-crate pencil holder.

Michaels Kids’ Club. 10am, 10:30, 11, 11:30. All Michaels locations.

Get Pop-Cultured, Marvel Day. 11am. Barnes & Noble, Akers Mill. Honor Marvel’s 75th anniversary on Saturday, August 2 with activities and giveaways, including a chance to win special Marvel prizes and more. A special Storytime will be hosted by Mr. Wil. All participants are encouraged to dress as their favorite Marvel Comics character. Adults are also encouraged to join us dressed in costume. A prize will be given for the best dressed comic character.

End of Summer Reading Celebration. 5pm. Switzer Library. Enjoy activities for the entire family and great prizes.

Happy Birthday Smyrna! 6pm – 10pm. Smyrna Village Green. Celebrate the birth of Smyrna with family and friends. High-energy music, festival foods, birthday festivities, a GIANT birthday cake by McEntyre’s Bakery and a kids entertainment area and fireworks at the end add to the excitement…be there! Waller takes the stage first, followed by Banks & Shane.

Smyrna Fresh Produce Market. 8am – 12pm. Smyrna First Baptist (Market Village).

Michaels Kids’ Club. 10am, 10:30, 11, 11:30. All Michaels locations.

Open House at The Music Studio at Vinings. 10am – 2pm. 4895 S. Atlanta Rd. Come see the studio, rock out with some kids’ karaoke, enter to win one month of FREE lessons and enjoy some delicious refreshments, popsicles and face painting courtesy of St. Angelo’s Pizza!

Smyrna Soccer Club Walk Up Registration. 10am – 12:30pm. 2688 Atlanta Road, Smyrna (between the Smyrna Community Center and Police Station). Rec programs available for ages 3 – 18. 

Comic Book Sale at Switzer Library. 11am – 6pm. 266 Roswell Street, Marietta.

Movie by Moonlight. 8pm. Taylor-Brawner Park. Free event, movie starts at sundown. The Lego Movie.

 

Sunday

Monkey Joe’s National Ice Cream Day. 10am. 50 Barrett Pkwy. Suite 111 Marietta. Monkey Joe’s is hosting a customer appreciation event for National Ice Cream Day on Sunday, July 20.  Participating locations will be offering discounted admission of $7 and free ice cream cups to kids! There will also be prizes and giveaways throughout the day.
