Young Actor’s Playhouse Alice in Wonderland.  7:30pm, YAP (Marietta). Alice is an ideal child. She works hard at school. Goes to bed early, wakes up early, lives a very simple and responsible life. Her world is torn apart when she discovers she is failing Algebra. Alice escapes reality and descends into a wonderful world where madness and chaos are the norm. Alice escapes to Wonderland!

Atlanta Lyric Theatre’s Peter Pan. 8pm, Atlanta Lyric Theatre. Final Weekend! Based on J.M. Barrie’s classic tale and featuring an unforgettable score, Peter Pan is one of the most beloved and frequently performed family favorites of all time. Peter and his mischievous fairy sidekick Tinkerbell visit the nursery of the Darling children late one night and with a sprinkle of pixie dust begin a magical journey across the stars that none of them will ever forget. In the adventure of a lifetime the travelers come face to face with a ticking crocodile, a fierce Indian tribe, a band of bungling pirates, and of course the villainous Captain Hook. Featuring the iconic songs “I’m Flying,” “I’ve Gotta Crow,” “I Won’t Grow Up,” and “Never Never Land,” and a rousing book full of magic, warmth, and adventure, Peter Pan is the perfect show for the child in all of us who dreamed of soaring high and never growing up.

Glover Park Concert Series, 8pm, Marietta Square. Band: Electric Avenue (80s hits). Enjoy music under the stars and be sure to bring a picnic and blankets or set up your lawn chairs after 4pm (no tarps or tents). Personal tables can be set up in the street on North Park Square after 6pm but not in Glover Park. The free outdoor concerts take place at 8pm rain or shine.

Special Events

Hummingbird Banding Event, 8am – 11am, Kennesaw’s Smith-Gilbert Gardens. The fifth annual event will be hosted by the “Hummingbird Whisperer” Julia Elliott from Bird Watcher Supply Company. The process of banding, recapture, and recovery provides valuable information about bird history, especially migratory details and the relative abundance of a given bird species from year to year. Other activities include: A chance to hold an owl (for a donation which will help rehabilitate current and future birds of prey). Children will be invited to make hummingbird craft projects in the Rose Garden, enjoy a scavenger hunt, play yard games, and visit the bubble ponds. Water, snacks, and Kona Ice will also be offered for purchase. Plants, bird-related gifts, feeders, note cards, and identification guides will be available for sale in the Gift Shop. $7 for adults, $5 for children age 5+, free for members and children under 5.

Jitterbugapalooza, 2:30pm – 4:30pm, Jitterbug Performing Arts. Enjoy this free community event featuring class demos, face painting, special guests, treats and more.
