The Big Bad Wolf. YAP (Young Actors Playhouse), 7:30. Tickets: $12 adults/$9 children. Set in an imaginary village populated with a variety of fairy tale characters, “The Big Bad Wolf” delves into the dark secrets we try to hide from the world. Little Red Ridinghood finds herself stuck between accepting herself for who she is, and who she wants the world to think she is. Goldilocks finds herself resenting the attention the world pays to Little Red, and the Boy Who Cried Wolf has a sheep that is straying from the flock for a better life.
Glover Park Concert Series. Marietta Square, 8pm, rain or shine. This kicks off Marietta’s Summer Music Series at Glover Park which takes place on the last Friday evening of each month from April to September. Enjoy music under the stars and be sure to bring a picnic and blankets or set up your lawn chairs after 4pm (no tarps or tents). Band: Grains of Sand (Beach, R&B)

2015 Jonquil City Jog 5K & Fun Run. Smyrna, 8am. At the Jonquil City Jog 5K participants run (or walk) for fun, education, and PIE at this annual race for education held in downtown Smyrna. Proceeds benefit the Campbell High School Educational Foundation, Inc. – a non-profit organization that provides financial and community support to Campbell High School students. 7am registration & packet pick up; 8am 5K; 9am fun run; 9:15 tot trot. Fees are $28 for a timed run, $25 untimed run/walk, $15 fun run, $15 tot trot with t-shirt, free for tot trot with no shirt. Oh, and there will be pie.
Peachtree Sports Festival. Cobb Galleria, 8am – 4pm. The Peachtree Sports Festival will debut in Atlanta at the Cobb Galleria Centre April 25. This family-friendly event focuses on exposing kids of all ages to a variety of sports with a full day of Youth Sports Clinics hosted by professional instructors. The festival will also feature a speaker series where attendees will hear from influential figures in professional sports and collegiate athletics from the SE region. The Clinics will highlight 12 sports; including archery, baseball, basketball, fishing, football, gymnastics, lacrosse, martial arts, running, soccer, softball, tennis and volleyball. Tickets are $10 at the door. A portion of ticket sales proceeds will benefit Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Metro Atlanta.
Smyrna Jonquil Festival. Village Green, 10am – 6pm. The Spring Jonquil Festival features over 175 arts & crafts booths, 15 food booths, an entertainment stage, and a variety of children’s activities. Bring the family and shop, play, eat, drink and just have a great day together. Friends of the Smyrna Library will have their book sale during the Spring Jonquil festival, so plan to get some phenomenal deals on all types of books. AND for the first time, Robinson’s Racing Pigs and Paddling Porkers Show will be there. You are sure to squeal with excitement as you cheer on the pigs racing for the grand prize of an Oreo. Pig races, y’all! Special mention on behalf of our sponsors, The Music Class, who will be there sharing the love of music and hosting a raffle for Smyrna music lovers.
Tails on the Trail. Swift-Cantrell Park, Kennesaw, 10am – 1pm. Tails on the Trail is Dog Walk and Festival to benefit Road Trip Home Animal Rescue. The event takes place on Saturday, April 25, 2015 from 10am to 1pm. The event will feature K-9 demonstrations, pet contests, dog adoptions, children’s activities, arts and crafts vendors, onsite pet grooming and other pet related goods and services. Enjoy the festivities for FREE or register for a one-mile walk to help save homeless pets
13th Annual Atkins Park Crawfish Boil. Smyrna Market Village. 11am – ’til. Visit the Jonquil Festival and stay for the crawfish (shipped direct from New Orleans) and live music in Market Village. Music starts at 1:30. Tickets are $10/person.
Children’s Art Series at Smith-Gilbert Gardens. Kennesaw, 1pm – 2:30pm. Children 4-12. Registration required. Non members $20. The children’s art series allows for children between 4 and 12 to be inspired by the garden setting and create a piece of art. No art experience needed. All supplies provided. Open-seating event. Reservations required. This is a drop off class, so parents are not required to stay. Theme: Monet.
Junior Ranger Day. Switzer Library and South Cobb Regional Libraries. 2pm – 4pm. Go on a National Park Service BIBLIOHUNT in celebration of Junior Ranger Day. Get lost in the stacks as you use clues to explore some of the nation’s 405 national park areas. Find all the answers and get a bounty of goodies!

Atlanta Museum Week Kicks Off!! Enjoy all that Atlanta’s Museums have to offer this week. Visit old favorites or discover new ones. A few museums are free this week, while the others are 2 for 1 (must print coupon prior to showing up at the museum). Register here for your 2 for 1 museum tickets. Taste of Marietta. Marietta Square. 11am – 7pm. The annual event takes place in the historic Marietta Square and features over 75 restaurants and caterers showcasing their best food. Tastes range in price from just $1 to $5. In addition, there are five live music stages and a sunset concert on the Main Stage in Glover Park. The event also features games for the kids in the Kid’s Alley, a sports corner as well as a cooking stage with celebrity chefs’ cooking demonstrations. The Taste of Marietta takes place rain or shine, and admission is free.
