Weekend Events, May 2 – 4


Saturday

Smyrna Fresh Produce Market Opens. 8am – 12pm. Smyrna First Baptist (Market Village).

Home Depot Kids’ Workshop. 9am – 12pm. All Home Depot locations. This week’s kit: Build a flower planter.

May-retta Daze Arts and Crafts Festival. 10am – 6pm. Glover Park in Marietta Square. The festival features exhibitors and artists showcasing handmade goods including painting, pottery, woodwork, metal, glass, fabric, soap, candles and more. All work is made and displayed by the artist, and the event draws both local Georgia artists as well as artists from around the Southeast. The event also features activities for the kids and live entertainment. New to the festival this year is the Parks and Recreation “Touch a Truck” activity on Saturday from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Children of all ages will be able to get up close to City of Marietta vehicles including City police cars and fire trucks.

Michaels Kids’ Club. 10am, 10:30, 11, 11:30. All Michaels locations. This week’s craft: Create a mini version of yourself.

Marietta Square Farmers Market & Artists Market. 10am – 1pm.

Open Air Market at The Honeybee and The Bird and The Bee. 11am – 5pm. Corner of Atlanta Road and Concord, Smyrna. The parking lot will be blocked off for the 3rd Annual Open Air Market. Stop by for local vendors in jewelry, artwork, & local goods, free food, live music, and a raffle for a $500 gift certificate.

Taste of East Cobb. 11am – 5pm. The Fountains of Olde Towne (Formerly The Avenues East Cobb), Marietta. The event features delicious dishes from the some of the most popular restaurants in the area. While there, you can also enjoy a variety of arts & crafts vendors, live music, a silent auction, beverages and desserts, and a “Best of Taste of East Cobb” voting contest. Kids will enjoy large inflatables, sand art, spin art and face painting.

Barnes & Noble Storytime. 1pm. Cumberland location. Special Event: Eric Carle’s The Very Hungry Caterpillar 45th Anniversary Celebration. Reading and hands-on learning fun for ages 4 and up. Space is limited, ask any bookseller how to sign up.
