Friday

Southeast Homeschooling Expo.  10am – 9pm. Cobb Galleria Centre, 2 Galleria Parkway. Tickets can be purchased at the door. $30 for an individual, $35 for a couple. Annual Homeschooling Convention Held in Atlanta for Homeschooling families from all over the country. See hundreds of exhibitors with curriculum and homeschooling opportunities and attend workshops on a wide variety of homeschool topics. The expo is devoted entirely to the display, sale and discussion of educational materials by the best Christian, secular and specialty publishers. KidsZone available to entertain and educate your children during the conference.

Summer Reading Finale: “Planet Earth” Puppet Show. 2pm, Smyrna Community Center. Lee Bryan, “That Puppet Guy,” presents  the “Planet Earth, Inc.” puppet show. Tap your feet to the musical beat with themes of recycling, clean air, water conservation, and rain forest preservation. We’ll have our prize table before and after the show so don’t forget to bring your Summer Reading Program log. Claim your prizes! Free event.

Family Fun Friday at Legacy Golf Links. 4:30pm – 8pm. 825 Windy Hill Road, Smyrna. Games, food and prizes for everyone! Stop by and visit us for this free evening. 

Curtain Call Youth Players’ “Once Upon a Mattress”. 7:30pm, 1171 Whitlock Ave. Marietta. You’ve heard of the classic story – The Princess and the Pea. Well, Once Upon a Mattress is a funny, musical take on that familiar story. With zany characters like Queen Aggravain, a King who communicates via pantomime and a princess who swims across the moat to get to her future prince – rehearsals and performances are bound to be full of laughter. Once Upon a Mattress runs July 25-27. Movies at the Mable. Gates open at 7:30, movie starts at dusk, Mable House Complex. Even rain or shine. Bring your own food or purchase concessions. Move: Rise of the Guardians.

Glover Park Concert Series. 8pm, Marietta Square.  Enjoy music under the stars and be sure to bring a picnic and blankets or set up your lawn chairs after 4pm (no tarps or tents). Personal tables can be set up in the street on North Park Square after 6pm but not in Glover Park. The free outdoor concerts take place at 8pm rain or shine. Music: The American Flyers

 

Saturday

Smyrna Fresh Produce Market. 8am – 12pm. Smyrna First Baptist (Market Village).

Michaels Kids’ Club. 10am, 10:30, 11, 11:30. All Michaels locations.

Railroad Rendezvous at The Southern Museum of Civil War and Locomotive History. 9:30 – 5:30. Museum admission applies: Museum event admission is $7 for adults, $6 for seniors, $5 for children ages 4-12 and free for children three and under as well as Museum members. There is an additional fee of $5 for all guests 4 years + to board the General Locomotive (including members). The family-friendly event will feature a range of indoor and outdoor events, including operating model train layouts, a variety of games and a hobo jungle. Attendees will also have the rare chance to climb aboard the General locomotive (for a separate fee) made famous during the Civil War’s Great Locomotive Chase.

Youth Cheer Camp. 9:30am – 4pm. Kell High School, Marietta, main gym. Aged 5 years to rising 5th graders. $45 at the door. The camp includes cheer instructions (fundamentals of cheerleading suitable for each age group)  Participants will learn a short dance, new cheers and chants, and various jumps.  Each cheerleader will receive a snack, pizza lunch, camp t-shirt and craft. Register online at www.cobbfootball.com. 

Rhyne Park Girls’ Softball Registration Party. 10am. 4145 King Springs Rd, Smyrna. This is a free registration and kick-off party for the fall girls’ softball league. Enjoy bounce houses, free food and snow cones. Registration is for 6U, 8U and 10-12U.

Smyrna Soccer Club Walk Up Registration. 10am – 12:30pm. 2688 Atlanta Road, Smyrna (between the Smyrna Community Center and Police Station). Rec programs available for ages 3 – 18.

Sunday

Monkey Joe’s National Ice Cream Day. 10am. 50 Barrett Pkwy. Suite 111 Marietta. Monkey Joe’s is hosting a customer appreciation event for National Ice Cream Day on Sunday, July 20.  Participating locations will be offering discounted admission of $7 and free ice cream cups to kids! There will also be prizes and giveaways throughout the day.
